Everything You Need to Know About Our Foam Cut to Size Service

We stock over 20 cut-to-size foam shapes in this collection, from the everyday to the highly specialist. Whether you need a plain rectangle for a dining seat pad or a 6-sided polygon for an unusual bay window, our custom foam cutting service covers it. Below you will find guidance on our full shape range, how to choose the right grade, and who this service is designed for.

Our Full Range of Cut-to-Size Foam Shapes

One of the most common reasons customers struggle to find what they need elsewhere is shape. Most foam suppliers offer rectangles and little else. At Quick Foam, our custom foam cutting service covers the following shapes, all available in your choice of grade and thickness:

Cushion and seating shapes

  • Square / Rectangle Shape Foam: the most versatile shape, suitable for sofa seats, back cushions, bed headboards, dining chairs, and general upholstery work
  • Chair Cushion Shape Foam: designed to fit standard chair seat profiles with a consistent, neat finish
  • 2 Part Chair Cushion Foam: ideal for chairs where the seat cushion wraps around or splits across a structural frame
  • 4 Part Lounge Cushion Foam: suited to L-shaped sofas, corner units, and modular seating arrangements where multiple pieces need to align correctly
  • T Cushion Foam: a classic shape for armchairs and sofas with front arm extensions, giving a neat finish around the chair base
  • Curved T Cushion Foam: the same as a T cushion but with a curved front edge, common on traditional and period-style upholstered furniture
  • Curved L Cushion Foam: designed for sofas and chairs with a curved front left or right extension, often found on older British furniture
  • Bullnosed Cushion Foam: features a rounded front edge, softening the look of seat cushions and giving a more finished, professional appearance
  • Rounded Edge Cushion Foam: similar to bullnose but with a more gradual curve, popular for window seats and bay cushions
  • Foam All Rounded Cushion: all four edges rounded for a soft, contemporary cushion profile used in scatter cushions and decorative seating

Window seat and specialist shapes

  • Window / Dining Seat Foam: cut to fit straight bay window seats, bench seats, and dining banquettes, available in any length and width
  • Clipped Window Seat Foam: includes clipped corners to fit neatly into window seat frames where the corners need to clear structural uprights or architraves
  • Clipped Bolster / Corner Cut Mattress Foam: a rectangular piece with one or more corners clipped away, widely used for boat mattresses, caravan berths, and fitted seating where corners meet a wall or bulkhead

Geometric and polygon shapes

  • Trapezium Shape Foam: a four-sided shape with two parallel sides, used for angled seating, bay windows with non-parallel walls, and bespoke furniture builds
  • 5 Sided Trapezoid (Polygon) Foam: a five-sided polygon shape for more complex seating profiles and fitted furniture
  • 6 Sided Trapezoid (Polygon) Foam: six-sided custom cutting for intricate bay window seats, hexagonal cushions, and specialist interior projects
  • Wedge Triangle Foam: a right-angled triangular wedge, frequently used for positioning, bolsters, and custom furniture inserts
  • Equilateral (All Sides Equal) Triangle Foam: all three sides equal, used for decorative cushions, geometric furniture, and specialist display or craft applications
  • Semicircle Foam: a half-circle cut used for bay windows, curved banquette seating, and decorative cushion projects

Round and cylindrical shapes

  • Cylinder / Bar Stool Foam - cylindrical foam cut to your specified diameter and height, the standard choice for bar stool seat pads and round pouffe replacements

Boat and marine

  • Boat Mattress Foam - cut to the specific profiles common in canal boats, sailing yachts, and motorboats, including clipped corners, tapered ends, and unusual widths that standard mattress sizes never accommodate

Choosing the Right Foam Grade

The shape is only half the decision. The grade you choose determines how the foam performs over time, how firm it feels underfoot, how long it holds its shape, and how well it suits its intended use. All grades we supply meet UK BS 5852 fire safety regulations as standard.

For upholstery foam cut to size:

  • Soft grades suit back cushions, scatter cushions, and decorative pads
  • Medium grades work well for everyday domestic sofas and armchairs
  • Firm and high-density reflex grades are the right choice for structured seating, dining chairs, and high-traffic use, they hold their shape significantly longer and are the grade most professional upholsterers specify

For cushion foam cut to size:

When replacing cushion foam in an existing cover, measure your cover precisely, length, width, and depth, and consider going 10–15mm larger than the internal cover measurement to achieve a full, plump finish. If your existing cushions have compressed and flattened, stepping up one grade in firmness will restore the original look and feel.

For memory foam cut to size:

Memory foam is slower to respond than standard foam, it softens with body heat and distributes pressure evenly rather than pushing back. It works particularly well as a topper layer over a firm base, which is why it is popular for custom mattresses, caravan and campervan berths, boat mattresses, and any sleeping surface where pressure relief matters. Our memory foam is available in multiple thicknesses and cuts to any dimension.

For custom size mattresses:

If you are building a boat mattress, replacing a caravan mattress, or need a custom size mattress for a loft bed or unusual frame, our Boat Mattress Foam and Clipped Bolster / Corner Cut Mattress Foam products are specifically designed for these applications. Standard mattress sizes rarely fit these spaces, cutting foam to your exact measurements is the only reliable solution.
